When I went to journalism school back in the ‘70s, we were taught to be objective in our news reporting and writing. Objectivity was—and still should be—a crucial element of media integrity. We’ve lost it, though. Journalists have become celebrities displaying a lot of showmanship, but not much substance. They have made themselves the focus of the news. News agencies work off their own agendas to promote their particular causes or opinions. News has become one-sided and it doesn’t matter which side you’re talking about. I’ve lost respect for the profession I once loved so much. I much rather write fiction now. It’s a more honest way to make a living.

Well, isn’t that the truth. I don’t get it either. We now have nowhere to go except primary sources (which are easier to access, admittedly) for the truth. It’s sad that newspapers gave that up.

Hi Gail – I am not in the obituary section yet!!! That is all my Mamma likes me to read to her! She says the whole world is too damn mean. So the only reason she says she will listen to the Memphis, TN news is the Weather, but I know she listens to all the crime!!! LOL! She will not let me drive to Memphis !!! Seriously, since our lovely liar OBAMA has taken office it has further corrupted the USA upper society and his political crew. The media stays with him or else they are cut out. Overseas, must all hate him and every American by the way he represents our country. He is narcissistic , and thinks he is a famous star and every little child in our country is brought up to think they are going to for sure be the next star and have the right to act like an idiot above the law.
Meanwhile, American President Obama may know his way around loop holes in our Constitution so he can take advantage of ALL AMERICANS TO MANIPULATE US TO MAKE US LOOK LIKE PUPPETS ON HIS STRINGS, HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT ECONOMICS, FOREIGN POLICY, OR BEING HUMAN.
So, my final stand is that he has the journalists in his pockets right now. They are to dumb to report the news in INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING!!! If you smell a dead rat , there is usually one around and you better start looking for him or the whole building will have to be torn down.
GOOD JOURNALISTS DO NOT JUST TAKE THINGS THEIR TOLD AS TRUE AND LET IT GO IF IT DOES NOT LOGICALLY MEET THE CRITERIA TO THE QUESTIONS BEING ASKED. IF I WERE A JOURNALIST RIGHT NOW I WOULD BE DIGGING IN EVERY HOLE I COOLD FIND HERE AND EUROPE . HOW DARE INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE!!!! YOU WORK FOR THE JUSTICE OF THE PEOPLE NOT JUST AWARDS IN JOURNALISM ! YOUR JOB AS A JOURNALIST WOULD BRING SUCCESS AUTOMATICALLY IF YOU PROTECTED PEOPLE.
JUST A QUICK EXAMPLE ON TRUTH AND HOW THE PRESIDENT GETS TO THE MEDIA: I sure was glad when Edward Snowden exposed our government ‘s spying on its own people without warrants. I tell you what , I do not trust Google right now with a ten foot pole. Neither do I trust AT&T. Google is doing a number on me right now. It’s a long story. But it is an infringement on rights when out of nowhere they tell me I can’t talk to someone on Google because I tried to help share his work to be sold. When you are on G+ they are connected to all : Twitter , WordPress, Instagram, Facebook, flicker, etc….
WATCH OUT GAIL , BIG BROTHER HAS BEEN HERE AND IT IS IN FULL FORCE WORKING ORDER NOW.

PS. I wrote a blog on Maya Angelou . I loved her work. She died two days ago at the age of 86. It was a lovely article. I could not get my image to upload !!! HA!! I included a quote from a title of another black feminist I liked to read as the title and it fits this article, ” SILENCE WILL NOT PROTECT US !” I WILL WRITE TO CATCH UP LATER I HAVE A BOOK REVIEW FOR A NEWLY RELEASED BOOK ON GOODREADS BY KAYE HINCKLEY . SHE ASKED ME MONTHS AGO BEFORE IT WAS PUBLISHED TO DO THE RELEASED. IT WAS NOT SET FOR RELEASE UNTIL JUNE 27th. BOY THESE PUBLISHERS HAVE NERVE!!!! It is a great book to me. 5 stars called BIRDS OF A FEATHER . SHORT STORIES THAT CONNECT ! Very much like Flannery O’ Conner , but other styles too! It is on Good reads already!!! I have to get it done today!!!!

Gail – I forgot to say – everyone was happy when Snowden released the truth to Americans about the NSA. Now they have turned on him and are calling him a traitor. The news people that supported him and people too, because they all want back in good graces with Europe. Fair weather friends!!!! Dawn
